English

The department of English was established in 1967 and was upgraded into a PG department in 2014. Since its inception, it has always been one of the high profile departments of the College. 18 eminent members of the faculty got retired and at present there are seven permanent staff members in the department, comprising one Ph.D.  holder and two  M.Phil holders. Three of the teachers are doing Ph.D. The department of English has a creditable track record in curricular, co-curricular and  extra curricular fields, with 14 University ranks, 24 A Plus Grades  and a high pass percentage. Anniece Joseph IRS, Olympian Sini Jose, cine star Miya George are some of the illustrious alumnae of the department. The student-friendly department which has won the overall championship in the College Arts Festival for the last ten years pays special attention to promote literary aptitude, leadership qualities and oratorical skills in the students, carving out winners in state level and national level competitions.
