Department of Malayalam

Alphonsa College Pala enjoys a creditable status as one of the pioneer institutions for higher education for women in the state of Kerala which was established in 1964 as a Junior college with 400 students and 13 teachers. Sr. T. E. Achamma (Sr. Columbire CMC) joined this institution as a lecturer in Malayalam in 1964 itself. Degree courses started in 1967. The famous Poet Sri. Pala Narayanan Nair author of works like Keralam Valarunnu, Gandhibharatham, Pookkalam, Amruthakala etc. taught in this institution during 1965-1968 period. Sr. Mary Thomas (Sr. Eliseus FCC) and Sr. C.U. Monica (Sr. Jovitta SH ) joined in 1967 and 1968 respectively. We proudly place on record the dedicated and selfless services rendered by the Faculty of Malayalam to inculcate interest among the students towards Malayalam Literature as Malayalam is our regional language. The active and healthy harmony prevailing among the teachers paved the way for the discipline of the students.
