Fashion design seems to be a glamorous mystery for which only a fortunate few have sufficient talent. The word fashion signifies change. This pace of change shows no design of hatting and designers are under contrast pressure to maintain their creative momentum. New development in mass production and information technology have helped to increase their speed of change by decreasing the lead time between design and finished stock entering the retail environment quickly turning catwalk fashion into high street equivalents.

Designing apparel is an exciting and demanding profession that requires special skills and abilities. The successful designer is usually skilled sketches and sometimes a qualified pattern maker and sewer heading a team and interpreting fashion trends from the many source of fashion information for a specific customer are other necessary skills.

Designing apparel is a career in which both men and women can excel. Creativity and skills – not the gender of the designer or crafts person - are the ingredients of success. Men and women have equal abilities to function in most occupation in an apparel factory.

AIFT empowers its students with a total perspective of the fashion and garment industry. The course consists of two sememters of six months durations. Many students on successfull completion of the course have got placement in different parts of the country.

Eligibility:

Minimum qualification for admission is Pre-Degree or any other equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to graduates. Admission is limited to female applicants and the total number of admissions shall not exceed 25.

Admission procedures and Fee Structure:

Application for admission to the course shall be made in the prescribed form which can be obtained from the College office on payment of Rs100/-. Candidates shall have to undergo an aptitude test based on which admission shall be made. The total fee for the course shall be Rs. 24000/- if paid in full
at the time of admission. If not, Rs. 12,500/- shall be remitted at the time of admission and the second instalment of Rs. 12,500/- shall be paid at the beginning of the second semester.

Working days : Monday to Friday
Working hours : 9.30 a.m. - 3.30 p.m.
