  • Dr. Teresa Joseph, Department of Political Science, nominated by the United States’ Department of State for the International Visitor Leadership Programme, 2011.
  • Sr. Regeenamma Joseph, Department of Economics received the NSS Award for the best Programme Officer, M.G. University, 2010-11.
  • Our alumna Sini Jose represented India and won the Gold Medal in 4x400mts Relay during the 2010 Asian Games.
  • Our alumna Preeja Sreedharan, won gold in the 2010 Asian Games Athletics. Never before had the country won a medal in this event in the Asian Games, included in the programme since 1986.
  • Our alumna Olympian Sini Jose represented India and won the Gold Medal in 4x400mts Relay during the Commonwealth Games at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi October 12, 2010.
  • Mr Thankachan Mathew received the first ‘Kayikacharya Award” (Best Coach Award) presented by the Govt. of Kerala, for the year 2009-10. The Award includes a cash prize of Rs. 50000/- and a certificate.
  • Dr. Teresa Joseph, Department of Political Science is nominated to the panel of referees for the Journal Contemporary South Asia, Routledge, UK
  • Sri Thankachan Mathew, Department of Physical Education is selected as the Manager of M. G University team for All India Inter-University Championships during 2008, 2009 and 2010.
  • U/o Swathy Krishna M. R. attended the Republic day Parade on 26 January 2009. She won the Best Cadet Award of the Kottayam Group as well as the Chief Minister's Scholarship.
  • Ms. Tintu Thomas and Ms. Dhanya K R got the award for the best poster presentation at the National Conference 'Chemference 09' held at IIT Chennai, during 22-23 August 2009. They are doing research under the guidence of Dr. Sr. Elsa Tom and Dr. Sr. Therese Madakakuzhy, Dept. of Chemistry.
  • Alphonsa College received four State Awards for the National Service Scheme (NSS) activities - Best College, Best Programme Officers and Best Student Volunteer for the year 2007 - 2008. Rev. Sr. Anupa (Dept. of Botany) and Smt. Alphonsa P Jacob (Dept. of Economics) were selected as the best Programme Officers and Ms. Suhani Subair was selected as the best volunteer.
  • The Board of Studies in English selected two of Dr. Mini John's translations to be included in the syllabus of the Common Course for the undergradutes of the M G University. 'For the Dispossessed', the English translation of S. Joseph's poem 'Edom' and 'My Master', the translation of Vallathol Narayana Menon's 'Ente Gurunathan' will be included in the second and third semester respectively. 'My Master' is a glorious tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and 'For the Dispossed' is a passionate plea to save our villages from the violent onrush of globalization.
  • Dr. Minu Joy, Department of Physics has been selected as a Visiting Associate of Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune for 3 years from August 2009. She has also been nominated to the panel of writers for the Astrophysics Encyclopedia to be published by the Kerala State Government Encyclopedia Institute.
  • Smt. Annakutty N. D., member of the non teaching staff received the Dr. Ambdkar National Fellowship Award 2008 for the best social worker, instituted by the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy.

  • Olympian Sini Jose represented India and won the Gold Medal in 4x400mts Relay at South Asian Athletics Championship 2008. She got the first prize in 400mts, 200mts and 4x400mts Relay at the M G University Inter-collegiate Athletic Championship.
  • The college team won and secured gold in the All India Inter-University Cross Country Championship 2008 held at Hariyana.
  • In the academic year 2008-09 our college won the following Championships:
    • M G University Cross Country $ Athletic Championship
    • M G University Weight Lifting Championship
    • M G University Kho-kho Championship
    • M G University Swimming Championship
    • Third position in the M G University Wrestling $ Basketball Championship
    • Runners up in the M G University Power Lifting Championship

  • Mr. Thankachan Mathew, Head of the Department of Physical Education was selected as the coach for the Indian University team for the World University Championship held at Bangkok from 9 to 20 August 2007.
  • Ms. Sini Jose of III DC English represented India in the World Athletic Meet held at Osaka, Japan. She was also a member of the 4x400 m relay team which won the gold medal at the Asian Athletic Championship held at Jordan in August 2007.
  • Taking account of the outstanding achievements in the field of education Rev. Sr. Marykutty T T, Principal of the college was selected for the Gyan Bharati Shiksha Award instituted by the Global Management council. The award was presented at a function in Allahabad on May 2007
